Creating Too Many Product Listing Ads Ad Groups
Looking at all the ways you can break out ad groups, it’s easy to rush headlong into creating various ad groups right when you launch a PLA campaign. BUT you don’t want to create overlap with your All Products ad group, and you also don’t want to waste spend on ad groups which aren’t performing.
Merchant Actions: Start out small and simple, and build out ad groups based on what converts well.
Having Multiple Ad Groups With Auto Targets for All Products
Your All Product ad group should be the only one which has an auto target set up for all of your products. Make sure that this box is checked for this ad group only. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT!
Merchant Actions: When you set up your All Product ad group, make sure to select this option. And be sure this option isn’t selected when you are creating other ad groups.
If you have “All Products” selected for more than one ad group, the one with the higher bid will outrank, and all of your products will be listed at that bid by Google.
So if you have a category bid of $1.00 which is accidentally selected for all of your products, and your All Products ad group is only bid at $.10, you will be unknowingly spending more through the Category ad group.
