The infamous Amazon Buy Box is no longer exclusively for new products. Sellers of used products can now be featured in the Buy Box, like below:
Of course, all standard Buy Box eligibility rules still apply. Our Director of Technology, Tien Nguyen, weighs in on what this may mean for current Amazon sellers:
This is a very interesting move by Amazon. It seems like this would mainly benefit personal sellers since most major retailers don’t sell used products.
In fact, if we start to see consumers gravitate towards the used options, this would hurt retailers since people may be more likely to buy something with a lower price. In the end, this falls in line with Amazon’s initiative as a selling platform: drive the most conversions, regardless of who the seller is.
