As a retail-focused Search agency, we get pretty hands-on experience with a lot of retailers’ online stores, so this review is an attempt to share some of that insight with some of you who may be looking to make a big investment in an ecommerce platform.

Miva Merchant Review: What Kind of Merchant Should Use the Miva Merchant Platform?

Miva Merchant is a complete ecommerce platform solution for retailers for both small businesses and enterprise-level ecommerce businesses. Over the past couple of years, Miva has really simplified their solution offering, scaling it down to a 3-tiered SMB solution and an Enterprise solution. Both solutions are your out-of-the-box-friendly, PCI-compliant variety, not the sort that requires a ton of upfront work.

In terms of traffic and order volume, Miva’s distinction in terms of the types of businesses that would get the most out of each package is a bit grey, but it’s pretty intuitive – enterprise solutions are typically best-suited for organizations with built-out departments for Account, Sales/Marketing, IT, etc. Looking for a benchmark? Retailers generating $5 million or more in annual revenue are usually seeing the traffic and order volume that would merit enterprise-level software.

There are now 3 Miva Merchant plans for small businesses, ranging from $49.95 to $129.95/month. Neither of these plans have a product limit and include all of the same essential features. As for their Enterprise solution, plans start at $695 so it’s very comparable to a product like Shopify Plus or Magento Enterprise. It should be noted that Miva doesn’t host for retailers with soft goods (meaning services or downloadable products).

When comparing ecommerce platforms, it becomes clear that Miva is ideal for retailers of any size, considering their unlimited products feature and their consistency in features across all plans.

Ultimately, Miva Merchant will provide retailers with a conventional, yet powerful experience and is a highly recommended option for anyone looking to make the switch our launch or a new store.
