In addition to Ben Kirshner’s session at IRCE, Karen Kang, from Accessory Geeks, also spoke at the recent Internet Retailer Convention & Exhibition in a session entitled “The Idea Exchange: Swapping Tips on Doing More with Less”. She outlined the necessary actions that all retailers (whether you are an online retailer or a brick and mortar) should implement to cut costs.
Karen’s insightful presentation gave us an idea of how to negotiate and be aggressive in this ever-changing business world. One action that a retailer can take is simply reviewing contracts on a regular basis, and negotiating with clients/customers logically and reasonably in relation to outside variables and competitions. This way e-retailers can eliminate costs in one sector and focus on more profitable channels.
The importance of being prepared, aggressive, and proactive can win you big money in this industry, as we have learned through Karen’s tactical and well-summarized presentation. Great job, Karen!
