If you’re selling on Walmart, then you’ve likely seen the 2-day shipping badge on high-performing listings.
This isn’t a coincidence.
Walmart’s TwoDay Delivery program is helping marketplace sellers boost their listing visibility, increase sales, and drive repeat purchases — all thanks to a fast delivery promise that’s become the standard for Walmart shoppers.
Here’s why you should add the 2-Day Delivery badge on your Walmart Marketplace listings and how you can get started.
New to selling on the Walmart Marketplace? Start with our beginner’s guide.
1. What Is the Walmart 2-Day Delivery Badge?
The Walmart 2-day delivery/shipping badge is added to listings that offer 2-day delivery under the Walmart TwoDay Delivery program.
Under this fast shipping program, Walmart shoppers receive free nationwide delivery in two days, often with a $35 minimum order value.
However, it’s not only shoppers who benefit from the 2-day delivery badge.
2. Four Seller Benefits of Walmart 2-Day Shipping
While fast shipping can mean happy reviews, there are many more substantive seller and vendor advantages to earning your Walmart 2-day delivery badge.
Key benefits of Walmart 2-day delivery for sellers include:
- Search visibility
- Buy box preference
- Trust
- Advertising opportunities
- More sales
1. Increased visibility in Walmart search results
The fast delivery tag stands out visually in the search results, drawing shopper attention to your listings and away from your competitors’. These listings are also included in 2-day delivery filtered search results, increasing the number of search queries that your products appear in.
2. Buy box preference
Walmart’s buy box algorithm favors 2-day delivery listings, giving you a greater chance of securing the coveted position.
Winning the Walmart buy box means that you become the default purchase option for products with multiple sellers, significantly increasing the chance of you winning the sale. Many shoppers aren’t aware that there are multiple sellers for one product, and others simply trust Walmart to select the best seller for their needs.
3. Greater trust
Walmart is a household name that online shoppers trust when it comes to quality products, generous return policies, and fast shipping.
The 2-day delivery badge acts as a Walmart stamp of approval, which customers rely upon when purchasing products they need quickly.
This can be because the product is a personal care item, they’re buying a last-minute birthday gift, or they simply don’t want to wait (we’ve all been there!)
4. More sales
Customers love fast shipping.
Happy customers equal happy reviews, which can spark a flywheel effect for increasing your Walmart sales through self-generating social proof and advertising.
3. How to Get the Walmart 2-Day Delivery Badge
Walmart’s free Two-Day Delivery program is available to all Marketplace sellers. When opting in, you will choose between seller-managed fulfillment, Walmart Fulfillment Services, or outsourced, 3P fulfillment.
1. Seller-fulfilled 2-day delivery
If you have a reliable in-house fulfillment system, you can win your 2-day delivery badge by meeting the following eligibility requirements:
Be a Walmart Marketplace seller for more than 90 days, or have handled fulfillment for at least 20 orders in the last 30 days that satisfy the standards outlined below
Meet the following minimum performance standards:
- On-time shipping >95%
- On-time delivery >95%
- Valid tracking rate >95%
- Cancellations rate <1.5%
Walmart has made recent enhancements to further benefit self-fulfilling 3P sellers, including a streamlined setup process, richer analytics—and perhaps most importantly—tools that help you determine which geographical areas you’re able to reliably deliver to within 2 days via ground shipping. These automated tools “enable system-generated coverage areas” that consider “real-world transit data” and the location(s) of your warehouse(s).
This is especially valuable for sellers that want to take advantage of a TwoDay Delivery promise whenever feasible, but don’t have a wide range of warehouses that would make meeting that timeline possible nationwide. Thanks to Walmart’s mapping of “over 140 precise regions,” getting as granular as necessary with your 2-day delivery capabilities is possible.
If you are happy that you currently, and can continue to, meet these metrics, sign in to your Seller Center, go to your Shipping settings, and click Request Access:
After your performance has been reviewed and validated, you can set up your delivery badges in Walmart Seller Center.
Smart Tags
Additionally, Smart Tags for Walmart TwoDay was recently launched. Sellers who take advantage of Smart Tags can leverage Walmart’s machine learning algorithms to automatically manage which items are available for 2-day delivery—adding and removing the badge based on certain conditions being met or not met.
“Smart Tags fully manages your Walmart TwoDay offerings. It routinely examines, identifies, adds and removes 2-day delivery tags for your listings, all in the background.”
2. Outsourced fulfillment 2-day delivery
If you cannot support TwoDay deliveries in-house and don’t currently meet the eligibility requirements, you can get pre-approved for 2-day delivery badges with Deliverr.
An outsourced fulfillment partner like Deliverr will meet the eligibility criteria and service level agreements for you by managing the storage, picking, packing, and shipping of your Walmart orders. This has the benefits of:
- Automatic approval for TwoDay, regardless of your previous or current performance history
- Allowing you to test the waters with a few SKUs, to see the benefits of Walmart TwoDay before expanding the program to your entire stock
- Seller protection for all Deliverr-fulfilled orders, so you don’t have to worry about late deliveries
To get started and qualify for Walmart 2-day delivery badges on your listings, you can sign up for an account with a third-party logistics provider, such as Deliverr.
3. Walmart Fulfillment Services
If you are leveraging Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) for any or all listings in your catalog, those listings are automatically eligible for the 2-Day Delivery badge.
Similar to Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), WFS allows sellers to send their available inventory (items listed for sale on Walmart.com) to a Walmart fulfillment center. Once received, Walmart will store, pack, and ship your items on your behalf as they are sold.
4. How to Optimize Your Walmart 2-Day Delivery Badge
While Walmart’s 2-day delivery badge naturally brings increased visibility, sales, and repeat purchases, there are ways to boost the results even further.
Advertising
We recommend using a combination of fast shipping tags and advertising through Sponsored Products in the grid search results, product carousel, buy box banner, and Search Brand Amplifier.
Optimize your listings
You can further optimize your Walmart listings using the video integration, comparison chart, and download tools available via Walmart Performance Ads.
Multi-channel selling
Once you have qualified for Walmart’s 2-day delivery badge, you can use your internal processes or outsourced fulfillment partner to become eligible for other fast shipping programs, such as Shopify 2-day delivery, Wish Express, and eBay Fast ‘N Free.
5. Final Takeaway
Adding 2-day delivery badges to your Walmart Marketplace listings opens up a whole world of opportunities for your ecommerce business.
You receive the benefits of increased visibility, buy box placement, and boosted sales, while also being able to use your fast shipping fulfillment network to qualify for other fast shipping programs, receiving similar benefits with little extra effort.
If you’re serious about growing your ecommerce business, Walmart’s 2-day delivery badges are the first step to success.
