On Tuesday June 5th 2012 Elite SEM CEO, Ben Kirshner, spoke in front of hundreds of retailers at the Internet Retailer Conference and Exhibition in Chicago Illinois.
The session was entitled “Not Last Year’s SEO: New Rules to Raise Rankings.” Ben spoke about recent changes he has seen in the SEO space and what future metrics Google and other search engines will value in terms of natural rankings.
The Future of Engagement Metrics
The key point that Ben wanted to leave the crowd with was that engagement metrics such a page shares to social media, time on site, page views, bounce rates, and other events that boost engagement will play a larger role in determining natural ranks in the future. Similarly to how Google takes into account the quality of content on site and the quality inbound and outbound links genuine engagement boosters will play a large role in page rank.
