Friday is finally here! Put a smile on and tip your cap to these great companies making a difference during COVID-19.
New Tech Means New Donations: Snap Inc.
We’re all on our phones trying to stay connected with loved ones and Snapchat is one of the most fun options to do so, but Snap Inc. is helping in an even greater way. By using their augmented reality technology made popular through Snapchat Lenses, the social media app is creating a virtual donation experience to assist the frontline in the fight against this pandemic.
Snapchat’s new feature demonstrates “how donations support the World Health Organization’s immediate response efforts to track the spread of COVID-19, ensure patients get the care they need, and provide frontline workers with critical supplies”. This encourages users to donate and share helpful information about relief efforts around the world. Not to mention that it puts a unique, interactive spin on assisting great causes.
Crafting Help: Etsy
Artists and builders all around the world are putting their creativity and handy skills to the best possible use by creating face masks and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that are available for the public. Thankfully, Etsy provides an amazing platform for those able to craft and sell these products to people in need–in fact, they’re encouraging it.
Etsy has been urging its sellers to create as many masks as possible while still maintaining maximum transparency for consumers to ensure public health and safety. It’s also been amazing to see the great ideas on the site that aren’t just masks like no-touch tools, hand sanitizers and loop extenders for PPE. Etsy is another great example of how companies are positively impacting the financial and physical well-being of everyday people!
Money Talks: Twitter/Square
We’ve been highlighting awesome brands for doing what they can to support relief efforts in this pandemic, but it’s important to recognize some of the people behind these decisions, especially when they personally contribute to the cause as well. We’d like to praise Jack Dorsey, the Founder and CEO of Twitter and Square.
Not only did Square waive subscription fees for the month of April to support local restaurants, Dorsey also pledged $1 billion of his share of the company to be donated towards coronavirus relief. To maintain transparency, you can even follow Dorsey’s live spreadsheet entitled #StartSmall to keep up with where the donations are going.
